Dirk Koy is an artist working with different technologies (drones / 2D and 3D animation / photogrammetry / AR / VR) and creates moving digital images. He investigates the interface of reality and virtuality, combining the analog with the digital and also searching for the painterly component in the digital context.
The experiment plays a central role. His works have been shown, among others, at the Art Center Nabi in Seoul, at the HEK (Haus der elektronischen Künste) Basel, at the festival "Supernova" in Denver or at the FILE Festival in São Paulo.
In 2012 "The City" received the "Honorary Mention" award of the "Prix Ars Electronica" and won 2015 the 1st prize of the Visual Music Awards. In 2019, Dirk Koy received the Basel Media Art Prize for the work "g round" and in 2022 the work "Intersect" won the Animation Off-Limits Award at the animation film festival in Annecy. He collaborates with electro-pop duo Yello, Balenciaga, Mercedes Benz, Specialized, Fila, Nick Knight's Showstudio and in this context with Lady Gaga and Dom Perignon.
